Sometimes what is important is not obvious. Sometimes even the most important things are "hidden in plain sight" until you finally notice them. This piece is an illustration of that effect, containing a joyful melody which is heard twice buried in rich harmony before it ever becomes obviously important on its own. It is also a musical portrait of the composer's beloved wife who, herself, was a gem hidden in plain sight.
