Commissioned by the Summit County (CO) Middle School Band, this lofty work musically describes a gradual ascent to a high peak. Along the way, a false summit briefly plunges this ecstatic work into a darker place, but the final push to the top is sheer musical exhilaration! An oboe soloist (cued) is featured several times during the course of this musical journey, along with solos in trumpet and alto saxophone. Take your students and audience on an alpine epic with this thrilling musical climb!
